1994 Dodge Intrepid Owner Number One

“We bought this car a year ago and fell in love with it. It's roomy and fun to drive. Had a few minor repairs but what do you expect with 128,000 miles? Overall, not the best car I've ever had but I would not be afraid to buy another one.”

1994 Dodge Intrepid Owner Number Two

I bought my 94 Intrepid new, have had it 11 yrs. I've kept it properly maintained, with tune ups, etc. When mileage became higher, I routinely had the oil changed with a new oil filter every 3,000 miles. I have purchased new tires 3 times, had some transmission and air conditioning work done about 3 different times. Considering the car currently has 121,000 miles, maintenance does not seem unreasonable over an 11-year period. I still drive around town, and on the freeway in southern California.”

1994 Dodge Intrepid Owner Number Three

“[The car has a] Transmission cooling problem around 60000 miles, most of the a/c has been replaced (half in extended warranty), a/c still doesn't work. lots of brake replacements, lots of headlight replacements. Think Dodge supplement their income with selling necessary parts. Funny rattle in steering took a while to find. Currently at 125,000. Surprised I had to replace rear engine mount and outer tie-rod ends. But car is still going strong. I've had it since 1998 (& 50000 miles), with really no major problems since then, plenty of minor. Definitely had to be a home-mechanic with this car. Selling garage had to put new shocks on at 50000 miles.

What Recalls Were Issued for the 1995 Dodge Intrepid?

One of the recalls issued for the 1995 Dodge Intrepid included failure of the floor shifter ignition-park interlock. The recall stated that the interlock may fail, which may cause the shifter to move out of the park position, as the key is removed. An additional recall was made on the 1995 Intrepid, addressing the issue with the engine cradle. Dodge stated that the lower control arm that attaches to the brackets is liable to break or crack caused by fatigue. This component could separate from the engine cradle.

The third recall issued on the 1995 Dodge Intrepid included an issue with leaking fuel. Dodge stated that the vehicles with the 3.5L ENGINES may have a faulty fuel INJECTION DELIVERY SYSTEM- which can cause a leak in the fuel. This leak may originate in the sealing of the O-Rings or from hair-line fractures in thermoset fuel injection rail.

2003 Intrepid Owner Number One

“[I] Bought car used, [and] drove less than 100 miles. [As I drove, the] power steering unit went out. [I] drove it 300 miles, [then the] transmission started shifting irregularly. [I then] drove it a total of 700 miles and the engine blew. [The car I have is a] 2003 Dodge Intrepid with 2.7 engine. I will never buy another Chrysler product.

2003 Intrepid Owner Number Two

“We got this car because we needed dependability in our car. We travel to work and have a family. I saw this car & loved it, not knowing what we are in for!!! This engine is bad and once we had an issue with the engine, got it fixed. Now, my husband drove home from work & NO WARNING LIGHTS came on and suddenly he pulled over because he heard a loud noise & called me to pick him up. We had it looked at and were told it's the engine. I cannot AFFORD another car right now, and mad as hell that companies don't stand behind their products. We maintain our vehicles and this is so UNREAL that Chrysler won't have a recall – hey, tough times put us at risk of losing our jobs and putting food on the table!”

2003 Intrepid Owner Number Three

“Great car, have loved owning it, [but I] absolutely hate the engine. Apparently, this is a common problem with this engine, but I sure didn't know that when I bought the car (used). And even if you keep up with the maintenance religiously, it can STILL fail due to any lack of maintenance by the previous owner — and good luck with that one! I hope to God the people who designed this thing got stuck owning one.”

2003 Intrepid Owner Number Four

“We loved this car very much but when we bought it back in 2007, we noticed the engine light was on. The garage fixed it before we would even buy it. We then had no problems till June 2009 when it started overheating. We spent $1200.00 fixing that problem but in February 2010 we were driving home from my mom’s house and the car started stalling then we noticed smoke coming from under the hood. We then pulled over and stopped and immediately noticed the puttering noticed like something was boiling over, along with seeing the gauge shooting up to hot (in the red) It hadn't moved till we stopped. But we let it cool off and went through heck trying to get it home stopping every mile or so to cool off. Once we got home, I found that a rod was thrown through the motor and antifreeze was gushing out of it everywhere. Don't be tempted by its beauty. [This Dodge Intrepid has] real engines problems!”
